Ballet lovers are in for treat as the Dance Trust of Zimbabwe in partnership with the Cape Town City Ballet will be hosting the classical Ballet Bouquet at Reps Theatre from July 28-31, 2016.

“We are very excited about this show and we are looking forward to good support from Harare audiences,” said Carol Henchie, a local dance teacher tasked with coordinating the Zimbabwean dancers. “We have learnt a lot from Robin van Wyk from the Cape Town City Ballet who choreographed the entire show. During the past couple of weeks we have worked with him the standards of dance have improved and we will work hard to maintain them after this show.”

“We hope to host a similar event next year and for this to happen we appeal to people in Harare to come out in their numbers from tomorrow till Sunday and the corporates to also support our initiative,” she added.

The Ballet Bouquet, features 112 dancers from various Harare dance studios and four professional dancers from Cape Town City Ballet (CTCB), all under the direction of CTCB’s artistic director, and supporting the creative input of Mr. van Wyk.

“I’ve enjoyed working with everyone here and I am very proud of what Harare has been able to achieve with this production, translating my ideas and suggestions into reality and creating a super experience for audiences,” said Robin.

“Standards are high and the local dancers will gain valuable experience through participation and by working with the team of South African dancers, who are equally pleased to be here in Harare.

“We are also looking forward to performing for 450 orphans tonight and thrilled to be giving them Christmas in July as each one of them will be receiving a gift after the show,” he added.
