It’s back! The second edition of the Shoko Festival is set for September and will this year host artists from South Africa, Botswana, Senegal, Germany, United Kingdom and the United States of America, among others.
Savanna Trust in collaboration with the University of Zimbabwe Theatre Arts Department invites artists, media experts, civic society leaders, academics and human rights activist to submit abstracts and performance/exhibition/film/workshop proposals for the 4th protest Arts International Festival. The theme for this year is “Protest Arts, Culture and Democracy: Imagining and inventing the future.”
In 2009, over a hundred arts practitioners and administrators met in Johannesburg, South Africa under the banner of the Arterial Network. Some of the issues they discussed were the potential of getting African artists exposed to more African audiences and the sharing of knowledge between the various players across the continent. Now that dream is starting to come true.
