The top South African diplomat welcomed guests to his house with a red carpet and warm South-of-the-Limpopo hospitality. “This is South Africa away from South Africa,” he told guests, “enjoy yourselves.”
And enjoy themselves they did, aided by a constant flow of drinks, non-stop jostling for photos with the special guest for the evening, South African artist, Toya Delazy and the charm of meeting new people when they are dressed not just to kill, but to brutally commit multiple murders.
In his short welcome speech the Ambassador also spoke about how he hoped the Embassy could support more events like Zimbabwe Fashion Week. “Part of our broad mandate as an Embassy is to support business and people to people collaboration, and this is an example of this. Some of the models who took part in the Vicenzo Valli fashion show pose for photos with label propietors and designers Euston and Felistas Mabika.
A fashion show featuring an elegant men and women’s collection by Zimbabwean label Vicenzo Valli put the evening into colourful perspective and primed things up for the coming three days when fashion threatens to take over Harare. Vicenzo Valli is owned by husband and wife team Euston and Felistas Mabika.
