Winky D Heads for Big Brother StarGame

Zimbabwe’s biggest reggae artist, Winky D, will this weekend, perform on the continent’s biggest reality show, Big Brother StarGame.

Winky D has been scheduled to make an appearance during the eviction show on Sunday, July 15, 2012. DStv viewers can catch him in action on Channel 198. The show will start at 8pm.

Liz Dziva, PR and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe said she was thrilled by this development, “We are excited to see Zimbabwean artistes being promoted on Big Brother StarGame, a show that reaches across Africa and gives a wonderful platform on which to showcase this exceptional local talent to a wide international audience.”

Winky D is currently one of the biggest artists in Zimbabwe, ranking with greats like Oliver Mtukudzi, Alick Macheso and Sulumani Chimbetu. He has toured South Africa, the UK, the USA and Australia and has been well-received everywhere he performs.

He has won numerous awards including the Zimbabwe National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) for Outstanding Album – Igofigo, Zimbabwe Dancehall Award for Best Zimdancehall Song – Rokesheni and The African Entertainment Awards, Mainstream (Africa & International Acts) – Song of the Year, Controvhesi, amongst others.

Online, Winky D, has one of the biggest followings among Zimbabwean artists,and his Facebook page has over 46 000 fans.

Meanwhile local Power FM DJ Davies Mugadza will rock the Big Brother  house on Saturday, July 21, 2012, and will again drop the beats at the live eviction show on Sunday, July 22.

Zimbabwe’s housemates to the show Rockford Josphats, Teclar Mazanhi and Maneta Mazanhi, are all out of this year’s running for the big US$300 000 prize.
