We caught up with the founder of the awards, Beefy, who explained why they had decided to take the awards down south.

“The awards ceremony was only held in Harare since inception because for starters we wanted to develop a base and I feel we had to get certain aspects correct about hosting awards before we can change cities,” said Beefy.

“We would have wanted to take the awards to Bulawayo last year but my board had difficulties financially.

“However, this year we have made the necessary arrangements to secure bulawayo as the host city.”

Beefy also revealed that he personally loves Bulawayo.

“I personally love being in bulawayo and I’m constantly in and out there doing some works so im very comfortable with the move and am fully in support of my team taking such a step.”

On what to expect at this years edition of the awards he said, “Its still too soon to expose wat to look forward too but a lot is being formulated.

“What we can tell the nation os that just after two days of opening for artists submissions, the response is amazing.

“I believe Its going to be an epic finish to the year for hip hop this I guarantee.”
