Are you a talented musician? Do you think you have what it takes to be the next big thing in Zimbabwe? If you answered yes to any of the two questions asked then you surely want to hear this.
The 3rd Edition of Dream Star Zimbabwe talent search is on.
The Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe and the Embassy of China to Zimbabwe founded this annual spectacle in 2014. The main aim of the initiative is to nurture and promote Zimbabwean youths aged between 12 and 40, who have an interest in and a talent for arts and culture. The initiative provides these young artists with opportunities to showcase their acts professionally.
With the motto, “DreamStar, Dream higher and Fight harder”, this year’s event is poised to be even bigger and better than previous editions. The overall winner is set to walk away with US$ 3, 000, second place will get US$ 1, 500 and third place will receive US$ 500 in prize money.
Below are the respective audition dates and venues:
- September 16, 2016: Civic Centre, Masvingo and Midlands Hotel in Gweru
- September 17, 2016 : Mutare and Bulawayo at the Golden Peacock Hotel and Rainbow Hotel (respectively).
- September 18, 2016: Hope Fay Conference Centre in Marondera and Shumba Hotel in Kwekwe
- September 23,24 and 25 at the Longcheng Plaza, Harare
- October 15, 2016 Harare and Bulawayo will host the regionals at Harare 7 Arts Theatre and Bulawayo Large City hall (respecitvely)
- December 17, 2016: Finals at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC)
In addition to this, a two-week trip to China is up for grabs for the top 10 finalists who will be given a chance to tour and perform on various stages in the Asian country. Also, exceptional individuals and groups will be awarded an academic and employment opportunity to further develop their skills.
