It was a hive of activity in the capital city this week as students from Chinhoyi University of Technology studying for a Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in Creative Art and Design staged some amazing exhibitions in the CBD and surrounding areas.

Over ten exhibitions were held but we managed to attend three and these were; ‘Mixed Expressions’ by Tsungayi Kaseke at Raylton Sports Club, ‘Illusions’ by Nyasha Jeche at Joina City and Kumbirai Zvinavashe’s ‘The Other Side’ at  Batanai Gardens.

It was great to see some of these venues that rarely have anything artistic to showcase being upgraded to some mini galleries showcasing some amazing artwork.

The level of artistry that the students showed in their work proved that the future of Zimbabwe’s visual arts is very bright and if they all keep working hard, surely one of them will make it as part of team Zimbabwe for Venice Biennale 2025.

Below are some of their pieces:

MIXED EXPRESSIONS BY TSUNGAYI KASEKE

ILLUSIONS BY NYASHA JECHE

THE OTHER SIDE BY KUMBIRAI ZVINAVASHE
