It is a platform where producers and suppliers of tourism, cultural and arts products interact with fellow artists and consumers from the African continent and abroad.

The current edition has been incorporated into the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority’s national calendar of events and is running under the theme: ‘Promoting women through culture, conservation and value addition.’

Organisers of the event said this year’s edition has taken into consideration the recommendations of the delegates to the previous editions that the trade fair should portray Tsonga culture.

“We are availing tradition yoghurt and traditional wine. The world needs to come and experience the richness of our Tsonga culture”, Mr Phikela said.

The cultural fair will be held for the first time in a rural setup at Boli Mhlanguleni Business Centre. Boli Mhlanguleni is adjacent to the southern region of Gonarezhou National Park, to Great Limpopo Trans-frontier Park.

“This year’s edition of the Great Limpopo Cultural Trade Fair is loaded with various packages tailor made for kids, traditionalists, religious people, women, scholars, and cultural tourists”, he added.

Since its inception, Chiredzi Rural district Council has been financing the running expenses of the cultural trade fair. This year more stakeholders have shown their support by funding the fair also. These include Malilangwe Trust, Chilojo Club, Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge and Tongaat Hulett.

The organisers further emphasized that the 2016 edition shall hold varied activities categorized into specific zones.

These include live performances by music, dance, theatre groups and artistes. As well as fashion displays, arts and craft zone, food and drink zone, youth and kid net zone, herbal zone, religious zone, heritage zone, tourism and hospitality zone; media zone, environment and health zone.

The cultural fair is a platform that has the potential to improve livelihoods of the rural communities in the Great Limpopo Trans frontier Conservation Area and Africa at large.

It provides a market for the local rural business, retailers, hotels, lodges and other service providers which is expected to grow.
