Urban Grooves bad boy Maskiri is stranded in South Africa having been in that country for a few months now. According to Kwayedza, Maskiri travelled to South Africa for shows to promote his new album and then apparently ran out of money. Recently it was Rocqui in Malaysia, now Maskiri in South Africa. Who is next and where?

Zimbabwe's top musician, Oliver Mtukudzi, has one of his last public shows till September this weekend. Tuku, Backed by AY Band and the talented young Munya Mataruse will perform at the HICC on Friday (21 May 2010). 8pm. $15.

Zimbabwean Soap Opera, Legacies will start screening on DStv soon.

Legacies will screen on Africa Magic and becomes the second Zimbabwean soap opera to air on the channel after Studio 263, which has received some positive feedback from Satellite TV viewers.

Meanwhile, another Zimbabwean production, the famous sitcom Waiters, is also set to air on DStv soon.

Chiwoniso in Town Print E-mail

USA-based Mbira queen Chiwoniso has been in Harare since just before Christmas. She has been spotted at various events including Model Extravaganza pageant, the Book Cafe and around the CBD.

Last night she gave a show at Phat Sams Lounge in Westgate Mall. This will be her only performance in Zimbabwe before she heads back to the United States later today (10 January 2010).

She has been doing some amazing things with her music and our only hope is that she comes back to Zimbabwe- to live- one day soon.

The Zimbo Jam has learnt that Harare's famous Book Café which opened a branch in Johannesburg last year is considering opening a London venue.

The Book Café is run by Pamberi Trust in Harare and its sister organisation African Synergy in Johannesburg. It is Harare's prime live performance venue, with performances every night of the week except Sundays.

Actor Jasen Mphepo who was involved in a car accident a few weeks ago is back on his feet. “I’m still getting therapy for bruised muscles in my shoulder,” Mphepo told the Zimbo Jam, “but otherwise I’m ok.”

A number of things have come to a squealing halt recently for PowerFM's DJ Squilla. Firstly he was recently suspended from work for turning up drunk. Then two days later it was a literal case of squealing brakes when he lost control of his car and landed in a ditch.
