Zimbabwean comedian, Comrade Fatso, will host the prestigious African Entertainment Awards (AEA) USA in New Jersey on October 22, 2016.
The second edition of the AEA USA awards is being held in New York and New Jersey this week with the main event set to happen at the Liberty Theatre.
Nominees include Trevor Noah and Diamond Platinumz amongst many others. Apart from being host, Comrade Fatso’s organisation, Magamba Network, is up for two awards with their edgy satire show ‘Zambezi News’ nominated for Best African Comedian. Munya Bloggo who runs Magamba’s media projects ‘Kalabash Media’ and ‘Open Parly’ is up for Best Blogger.
“It’s great to be invited back to host the African Entertainment Awards USA for a second year in a row”, said Comrade Fatso. “It’s an honour to see our Magamba projects and team members getting global recognition.”
Comrade Fatso has seen his national popularity grow substantially in 2016 with his hard-hitting political news show ‘The Week’ which has gone viral during a year of citizen uprisings in Zimbabwe. Meanwhile he has been building up a solid international profile too. In 2016 alone he has performed in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Tanzania and India.
