Power FM DJ, Hazvinei Sakarombe, ballet dancer Natalie Bradbury, singer Josphat Somanje and sculptor Dominic Benhura were among the big winners for the evening, making several trips to the stage as they won awards in two categories each.

Hey Zimbojam - great article and nice to see the pictures so soon...

Thanks Joe! Thanks for the FB support!
Nqobile Malinga  - NAMA ????   |2010-02-21 06:30:24
Congrats Zimbo jam for the award you received yesterday.Outstanding Arts Website
Publisher. Truth be told our arts industry is going to dogs, we are our own
enemies because of how we do things and kune vanhu vasinganyare, l thought its
politics only that we cry foul over rigging , its there in the arts too.
The
awards in my opinion do not reflect the truth about the arts industry. Why do we
always have the same winners. This is putting of aspiring artists, How are
winners chosen. Is it by merit or popularity. How can an adjudicator be a winner
in the same competition? If a funcition is National let it involve all
Zimbabweans.
l have been a NAMA nominee for three consecutive yrs and a devoted
arts reporter, producer/presenter (tv and radio)and wonder what my artcles
lack.
Its disappointing that a reporter/producer presenter can be put in the
same category with an announcer or dee jay, the duties or jobs are totally
differen...
tee cee  - Where is the industry going????   |2010-02-21 07:48:08
Honestly, where id the industry going?? If the NAMA are also being rigged and
being treated like political polls, then we are headed to 1986 in this age.
Congrats to zimbojam for winning the award but the fact that there were no other
contestants lives a lot to desire??***??.
Amai T  - Other nominees   |2010-02-21 09:54:07
I am of the opinion that as long as we sit by the sidelines and hope for change
it will not come. If it is opened up for people to vote on a nominee and you are
not savvy enough to get people to vote for you then we will be seeing those who
are savvy winning.
I have friends who have been nominated 4 years in a row
without winning but that has not stopped them from doing their art and wanting
to make NAMAs better.
I would also like to know who else out there is an arts
publisher online. If you go to many Zim sites it is Politics, Business, Sports
and then ARTS and entertainment if at all. As far as I am concerned there is one
truly artsy online publisher and that is why it was a special recognition award
and not one of the traditional ones. I'd think we would see this recognition as
NAMA developing.
Johnson Maswaya  - Congrats   |2010-02-21 08:23:11
Congrats Zimbo jam/fungai.I think you really deserve this. And your updating is
"just so on the mark"_keep it up hey.
Blessing  - Director   |2010-02-21 10:04:46
I have no beef with the Nomminees or the winners of this years of past NAMA
awards but my biggest fear is if year in and year out we continue with the
selection criteria used the NAMAs will lose their value if they havent already,
just saying. We need to spruce up or dumb the whole process. And who on earth
compiles the guest list is this not a night for ARTIST just asking.
Blessing Munatsi  - Well Done Fungai   |2010-02-21 11:56:07

I must say i wasn't disappointed at not winning coz i've known surprises to
be part and parcel of NAMA awards. congratulations to all those that won and
hope others will not be dampened by losing out. Was a bit disapointed though by
the unprofessional mix ups that kept on occuring and also the fact that winners
were attached to the programme circulated before award presentations, which
totally killed all the anxienty.

To be frank, some people that came up to
present awards were pathetic, am sure we can do better.

You deserve your
award fro being so consistent with very few people noticing... keep on. Thanks
for the timeous update of yo website

you did very well Blessing, im a big fan but i honestly thing Dax Jackson and
Fading Pictures deserved it this time.

love ya
Emily   |2010-02-22 00:22:59
Congratulations to all the winners. We need to be constructive about the way we
criticise any process. That's the only way we can improve. Yes, there are
improvements that can be made, for instance the nomination process needs to be
changed. Some artists will not fill out forms but that should not stop them from
being nominees.
laura  - Cool But.....   |2010-02-22 04:33:52
How come there where no nominees in TV Drams and TV Soaps, I thought Legacies
and Fading Pictures deserved some recognition... What do they need to do to be
nominated?... Is it by merit or popularity... Who nominates? Who ar the
adjucators and what are thier expectations. Surely a program that produces,
OUTSTANDING ACTOR, OUTSTANDING ACTRESS AND THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNER deserves
to be nominated.... and who made the guest list?....
yours truely  - WILL IT EVER CHANGE?????????   |2010-02-22 05:46:32
Dear Editor

to say the least, we need more in Zim, as long as we do the same
things the same way and expect different results we are waisting our time and
resources, even the Sponsor's funds. Like having same pple over and over again
at NAMA, what will happen to the young pple who are rising up? is there a chance
for growth in Zim? look even at the intertainment at NAMA, we have almost the
same pple performing over and over again, can we give others a chance please,
can other pple be promoted? This industry needs to grow!! can we have something
transparent even in the selection process? can we use ways tht wld encourage all
artists from different backgrounds to be norminatted, for instance, use the like
of ECONET functions for voting, or Netone, i just mean use the modern ways of
voting. and give others a chance!!! whoever is doing NAMA and ZIMA, can u be
proud of urself if u lookback one day, are u proud of ur contribution to ...
Namatai   |2010-02-22 19:34:02
Congrats to all the winners.
Sam   |2010-02-22 19:37:53
Inini Hangu I would like to congratulate Hazvinei for winning. She deserves it
for her amazing presentation and bubbly style.
Blessing  - Where are the poll results?   |2010-02-23 12:14:36
Peoples choice has come and gone, but where are the results of the actual
votes.

I am also of the opinion that the whole adjudication approach is
incorrect. Why should someone apply to be nominated? these guys should be on the
ground all year round looking at productions and artistic works, then judge from
there.

I don't know, it's just my opinion, but i think it has worked for
music and even soccer stars
NAMA PROCESS   |2010-02-26 01:21:10
Allow me to add my opinion on the process as well. People should NOT nominate
themselves. That's so wrong. The NAMA scouts should be out there, in
consultation with promoters, managers, arts writers and the artists themselves,
asking what is happening in the sector, looking at people's contributions and
making up their minds from there on who to nominate.

That way the process can
be fair.
