Colleen MadamombeThis month the National Gallery of Zimbabwe remembers one of Zimbabwe’s most successful female stone sculptors ever, Colleen Madamombe, who passed away on May 31st 2009. She was a short woman of energy and girth who at her peak could out-carve any man in a traditionally male domain and whose sculptures explored and celebrated the fuller female figure.
