“Walk the Path, Build Zimbabwe.” That is the theme for this month’s House of Hunger Poetry Slam at the Book Café, inviting poets to think of and express their thoughts about ‘walking together’ as a nation and working together to re-build a shattered country to its former glory as the bread basket of Southern Africa and a rich cultural melting pot for many, regardless of race, tribe or nationality.

A Pamberi Trust project patroned by renowned poet Chirikure Chirikure, the Slam has developed talents like Victor Mavedzenge, Batsirai Chigama, Comrade Fatso, Linda Gabriel, Godobori and Outspoken. By giving artists consistent space to practice poetry and articulate issues affecting their lives, communities and the country at large the slam nurtures poets and encourages others to step out and discover their poetic self.

This month’s poetry slam will feature three of Bulawayo’s finest poets - Tswarelo Mothobe, Vuki Sibanda and Enock ‘Phar’ Lunga- who will join their Harare counterparts as they drop lines of hope upon the path towards rebuilding Zimbabwe.
