The extravaganza dubbed ‘Dance Evolution Concert Variety Spectacular’ is a celebration of contemporary Zimbabwean culture through live music, dance and theatre.

John Cole one of the choreographers and organisers of the event, told Zimbo Jam that it took them three months to develop their concept.

“The production is the first ever dance concert to capture the mosaic patterns of life weaving through music, dance and theatre,” said Cole.

“We self funded this whole project and our plans are to continue with the event for there is much that we want to give out in promoting local content,” added Cole.

All the music being used for the production is local hence portraying Zimbabwean lifestyle.

The supporting musical and theatrical cast for the show includes the likes of Ammara Brown, Pauline, Soul Jah Love, Nina Grande, Gary Tight and many others, with a special appearance from Ronnie Zee and R&B diva Davina Green amongst many others.

Book Café Staging and Programming Manager Tomas Brickhill said, “Dance Evolution is one of the most exciting and ambitious shows to be staged at Book Café, a mix of genres with cutting-edge cross-over arts performances, live music, DJs, dance and movement, and theatre in the mix too. It’s a bit like having an art attack! ”
