“Children at this school come from disadvantaged backgrounds particularly especially from HIV related homes. At times they just want to express how they feel through music. The school did not have any instruments at all so when they approached us we were more than willing to assist as part of our enriching community’s programmae,” said Murambinda.

“We are really excited about this donation because things to do with recreation are critical the lives of the children we work with here,” said an elated executive director of Chiedza Child Care Centre, Spiwe Chakawa.

Continued Chakawa: “We have engaged a professional marimba trainer from Prince Edward School. So whilst the children are benefiting from psychosocial support we want them to gain a skill they can develop into a career if they are passionate about it.

“We have also identified schools that are doing well in their music departments here in Mbare and they will be coming here to train the children. We are also availing the instruments to the rest of the community so that this donation does not only benefit children here only but the community at large.

“Zimbabwe College of music has also highlighted that they are keen on taking the children for training sessions so we are very excited about this development as it will brew the next generation of the nations esteemed marimba players.”
