The storm that’s brewing among beer drinkers who are appalled that pole dancer Beverly Sibanda, appeared in H-Metro recently doing an act where she sticks the top part of an open Castle quart bottle into herself, is misdirected.

To make matters worse, Delta has allegedly released statements where they have threatened to sue the dancer for misusing their bottles.

Have we all gone nuts. Is it just me or are we all missing the point here!!??

The point, the fight that we all should be fighting, is that a newspaper that is sold out in public, published pictures- on its front page even- of a woman sticking a bottle into her vagina.

That’s who Delta should be angry with. That’s who, as the public, we should be pissed off with.

Does Bev, like her or hate her, do her stuff out in public? No.  Did she shove her bottle-in-vagina image into your face? No! Did she expose your children to these images? No!

We are once again, as Zimbabweans, as we did with Maneta, missing the point and directing our ire at the easiest target.

Ironically, H-metro’s sister paper, the Sunday Mail, this weekend published an article bemoaning the proliferation of pornography in Zimbabwe.

A lighter twist to the story is Bev’s take on the whole thing. She told The Standard newspaper that Delta should be grateful to her for marketing their product.

without the blurring, Bev’s dance.

She said she saw nothing wrong with what she did as her fans liked her bottle act so much that some even drank from the same bottles she used for the dance.  Ohhhhkay!

An interesting comment after someone vowed in one of the papers last week that the pictures of Bev’s bottle dance had put them off beer for a while. One man’s meat…

It was reported recently that Bev’s dancing has earned her a steady income and she recently moved into a flat in the plush Borrowdale suburb. She has also bought a car for herself and is living a life that few dancers in the country can even dream of.

In another incident  that involves containers for alcohol and reproductive organs, three Gweru men were recently shocked to find a used sanitary pad in their opaque beer (scud) container.

The Chronicle reported on June 25, 2012, that the pad was discovered by one of the men when he almost swallowed it while drinking.  “Narrating their ordeal to Chronicle, the three, Mr Joseph Chifuvachengwe, Mr Artwell Hozani and Mr Taona Madoro all from Mkoba Village Six, said they were now considering abandoning drinking the opaque beer.”

Now hear this, circle of lawsuits, while Delta may consider suing Bev, these three men are taking legal action against Delta. Let’s just hope the beer maker doesn’t turn around and say, hey guys it’s not us who put the pad there, blame people like Bev, who dance over our alcohol containers…
