Award-winning comedian, Doc Vikela is set to take comedy to Sam Levy’s Village next week as he stages a performance at News Cafe Borrowdale on November 4.

“Next week fans will witness my evolution content-wise and the direction we want to take as the brand keeps growing.  It will be a night of laughter. Also its a night where my ‘products’ will be opening the show for me as we strive to keep the comedy flame ablaze,” said Vikela.

On why he stopped his weekly shows at Jazz 24/7 he said, “Weekly shows at Jazz 24/7 came to a halt due to logistical problems. We failed to come up with comics to sustain the weekly slot. I think also the venue was taking a different direction in terms of programming.”

Since the weekly gigs at Jazz 24/7 stopped, the comedian also vanished from mainstream comedy. He was not even a performer at Shoko Festival or the highly successful, Alfred Kainga show.

Speaking on where he has been hiding he said, “I have been around, doing corporate work, television, and private events like weddings.

“The prevailing conditions have left us with few venues to consistently host shows, so now its more of a when we find a venue we do a show.

“Plus I am also doing some ground work for my one man show slated for next year. Its going to be huge.”

On what he will be doing this summer he said, “This summer I stick to  the strategy of doing work as it comes, at the same time looking out for venues to do shows. Every Tuesday there is a comedy night in the avenues at On The Roof so we hang there and develop new material.”
