A 23-year old administrative clerk from Gibraltar, Kaiane Aldorino, was on Saturday evening (12 December 2009) crowned the most beautiful woman in the world at a glamorous two-hour pageant held at the Gallagher Centre in Johannesburg South Africa. 112 contestants from all over the world, including Zimbabwe’s Vanessa Sibanda, took part in the event, making this the biggest Miss World ever.

The evening was livened up with entertainment from South African dancers and from Miss World Talent Final winners; Miss Canada Lena Ma, Miss Sierra Leone Mariatu Kargbo, Miss Korea Kim Joo-ri and Miss Norway Sara Skjoldnes.

Let's face it guys. Zimbabwe will always have a tough time at these pageants.
There is something missing that we need to figure out before we can consider
winning.

If we had people like Racheal Stuart representing Zimbabwe we would have a
better chance

rachel Stuart went for Miss Universe 1998 but didnt make it too..dont blame it
on the girls but our organiser for not communicating well with international
pageant organisers..the winning countries usually have good relationships with
Miss World organisation.

unhappy pamela

I think it's all about grooming. These European girls are exposed to so much
more than our ladies. Grooming and exposure are needed at a large scale and that
needs money which we don't have. You beauty don't count for squat if you don't
have the dollars.

our representetive Vanessa SIBANDA was far much more stunning than
MISS SOUTH AFRICA,she was top 10 MISS BEACH BEAUTY AT THE MISS WORLD CAMP before
the finals...its how the MISS WORLD organization is going to benefit from ur
country if they make ur girl win.Vanessa was more glamorous if u look at the
pics on the MISS world website.

dissapointed fan

I totaLLY agree with you if she wasnt well groomed there would not even put her
top 10 out 112 contestants at Miss World Beach Beauty she is such a lovely girl
despite working extremely hard physically and mentally i was so angry after
watching the show...it seemed like the Miss World people already had a winner
cos the girls never paraded on stage.Wish there were more transparent about
their judging process

Vanessa Sibanda is not only beautiful but graceful in
her walk and dressing she deserved to be in the top 16.

Good on us as Zimbabweans for supporting our girl. More of this spirit will
take us far and make it impossible for event organisers to ignore us.
