Left: Holding on to her promise- The workshop, which included tips on grooming, make-up and building a portfolio, included practical sessions on runway skills, an actual video shoot and a photo shoot. It was an eye opener for the young fashion industry aspirants who told The Zimbo Jam that they were glad they had come. “I was not aware that modelling was such hard work,” said one of the participants after the photo shoot which was courtesy of fungaifoto, “but I’m really excited about modelling now.” The Zimbo Jam sat in on one of the workshop sessions and we were awed by how much detail Vimbai kept on spewing out, giving the young models deep insight into the harsh, unforgiving but very rewarding world of modelling. Vimbai, who has been in the country for a few weeks, returns to South Africa this week and will be back soon to hold her next workshop. She is planning to have the workshops every quarter. Photos and videos from the shoot will be sent to agencies in South Africa, Beijing, Europe and the USA. For some of the girls, this may be the beginning of a truly exciting journey. - The Zimbo Jam
