Standing tall. The finale is just over a week away and the winner is guaranteed to walk away with everything a young model needs to kick-start her career - a modeling contract from O Model Africa, USD 50 000 in cash from M-Net, skincare products for 12 months from Iman Cosmetics and yes, the trip to New York, courtesy of Arise Magazine. Zimbabwe this year has an unprecedented two finalists- out of a total of ten- for the continental model search, 23 year old Tholakele Dhlamini and 18 year old Rosanna Hall. The two girls are in the country and gave a press conference yesterday (26 January) before they jet off for the highly anticipated finale which will be broadcast live from the Eko Hotel Exhibition Centre in Lagos, Nigeria on February 6 2010 on the M-Net East channel (102) on DStv, starting at 1900hrs Central African Time. After intense preparation and competition, 10 finalists will walk the runway showcasing the clothing and jewellery of some of Africa and the world’s top designers, while some of the continent’s best performers will entertain the audience in Lagos. Face of Africa is a Pan-African model talent search that began running in 1998. It looks for an African supermodel and awards the winner a life changing modelling contract. Greatmore Chatya, Zimbabwe's most memorable representative thus far in the contest, took part in 2005 and made it to the top 5. She is currently a much sought after model based in South Africa. Tholakele and Rosanna leave for Lagos this Saturday and one of them will hopefully go further than Greatmore did in the model search and proceed to New York after winning the contest!
