Twenty-two year old Zambian model, Lukundo Nalungwe, was last night crowned the M-Net Face of Africa 2010 at a glittering event held at the Eko Hotel Exhibition Centre in Lagos, Nigeria. The business administration student fought off stiff competition from a bevy of continental beauties, including Zimbabwe’s own Tholakele Dhlamini and Rosanna Hall, who made it to the top ten.
As this year's winner, Lukundo (spelt Lukando on the M-Net website) walks away with US$50 000, a contract with O Model Africa and gets the amazing opportunity to take part in New York Fashion Week this very month. Zimbabweans were hoping that one of their two finalists would make it, and we did come close- Rosanna was among the top three- but it was not her day. The road ended a bit earlier for Tholakele who did not make it into the top five. Ernania Manuel, an 18-year old student from Mozambique was the third semi-finalist. The final was beamed live to the continent via DStv.
