Eighteen-year old Alice Makosa of Avenues High School was crowned Miss Colleges 2009 at a function organised by Red Rose Entertainment at the Harare Gardens on Saturday (22 August).

Alice beat a line up of 17 other girls aged between 12 and 20 to clinch the title. She had poise, confidence, a radiant smile and a beautiful evening gown which we are sure all contributed to winning the judges over.

The girls were coached by Angels of Africa Modelling Agency.

The afternoon pageant was poorly attended though and only about two hundred people showed up.

The winners

^ The winners (L to R): Nyasha Mashiri (2nd Princess), Alice Makosa (Miss Colleges 2009), Yolanda Matewu (Miss Personality) and Ruth Kwapata (1st Princess).

Live performances by various artists including Alexio Kawara livened up the pageant and kept those present dancing to new and familiar vibes.

The Colleges and Miss High Schools pageants are usually very popular events, drawing thousands of young people, and it may be that the marketing was not extensive enough this time round.
