The vivacious and musically talented model from Harare recently released a song titled Zimbabwe: Land of a Million Dancers which she hopes will assist in marketing the country. She took with her copies of the CD which she will give to the other contestants. Her wardrobe has been provided by Joyce Chimanye while beauty specialist Kiri Davies has given her grooming lessons. Zimbabwean models have not done too well in international pageants the past and commentators have said that this is because Zim girls are bigger than the size zero models that judges at these events look for. If that’s the case then the svelte 55kg Vanessa who has been on a special diet in the run up to the finals present Zimbabwe with its first real chance of winning since Angeline Musasiwa came fourth in the pageant held in 1994. Last year’s pageant was won by Ksenia Sukhinova or Russia. This year’s pageant, the 59th edition, will take place on December 12 at the Gallagher Convention Center, Johannesburg. The pageant camp began in London, England, where the contestants were all expected to arrive on November 7. The packed month-long programme is expected to include a trip to to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The contestants are set to arrive in South Africa on November 15, 2009 where they will visit the cities of Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and finally Johannesburg. - Story: Zimbo Jam Share this page...
