The Zimbabwean production house succeeded in being selected for the programme with two productions I Want a Wedding Dress which deals with the choices a young Zimbabwean woman has to make in order to get married or not and Sharing Day, a story of hope in a rural community both written and directed by Tsitsi Dangarembga were well received and appreciated by the festival goers. Meanwhile Nyerai Films, in co-operation with Women Filmmakers of Zimbabwe (WFOZ) is helping to improve quality of documentary filmmaking in the country through a five-week documentary workshop conducted by two renowned filmmakers from the USA and Spain. Film experts Rabia Williams and Alba Sotorra, who are in Zimbabwe with the support of the Spanish organisation Ramon Llull are working with upcoming local women filmmakers from WFOZ, Pamberi Trust, ZBC and other invited guests. The two lecturers will stay in Zimbabwe until the end of the International Images Film Festival for Women (IIFF), starting on November 20th. They will then form part of the international jury for this year’s women’s film festival, where again they will have the opportunity to mix with Zimbabweans on the jury and pass on their expertise. The workshop for WFOZ was made possible through the donation of a venue by a local church. Share this page... |
