It was a night for Norwegian and Polish films as the International Images Film Festival for women came to a close on Saturday evening (28 November 2009). Films from the two countries scooped most of the prizes at the awards ceremony held at 40 Cork Road in Harare. The Norwegian film Kissed by Winter scooped three awards, Best Director, Best Depiction of a Woman and Best Film. Poland won Best Script for Saviour’s Square, Best Cinematography for Time to Die and Best Actress for Alina Janowska’s heart warming performance in The Reliable System.

The Full List- IIFF 2009 Award Winners The awards were presented by Guest of honour for the award ceremony, Grace Jenami. Grace is the CEO of 6 Finger Records, the secretary of the Zimbabwe Association of the Recording Industry and with her brother Tatenda, set up That Squad Entertainment which gave birth to the famous Chamhembe label.
Ndichirimupenyu Awards 2009 Every year IIFF also honours women who have made significant contributions to Zimbabwean society. These awards are given because IIFF believes, as was once said by Vice President Joice Mujuru, “It is important to tell women how well they do while they are still alive and not only when they are dead.” The awards were presented by a second guest of honour for the evening, Councillor P. Ndlovu, deputy mayor of Beitbridge.
