How do you write a play about the Constitution or about the making of one without it being obviously didactic or a turning into a boring narrative, albeit relayed by comical gestures, convincing emotions and cleverly written lines? After watching the premier of Stephen Chifunyise’s Waiting for Constitution last night, I believe he may just have the answer to that question.

Shades of Dreams, a play by award winning writer Christopher Mlalazi, will premier at Bulawayo’s Amakhosi Theatre Upstairs in March. The play tells the stories of a school teacher, a former money changer, and their wives in the face of economic turmoil.

The 2010 season of Theatre in the Park will open with a new play by Stephen Chifunyise titled Waiting for Constitution. The Zimbo Jam attended one of the rehearsal sessions at Rooftop Promotions last week and we can reveal that Chifunyise has come up with another thought provoking piece.
