As with their acclaimed 2002 production of Romeo & Juliet - Thando & Ruvhengo, Feelgood have collaborated with Zimbabwean artists to fuse text, a cappella singing, dance and drumming into a dynamic and thought provoking 21st century production that transcends political, cultural and racial divides. Known as Manchester’s ‘Masters of Promenade’, the multi-award winning Feelgood Theatre Productions says that their new production will “haunt you long after the bloody nights business is over.” Feelgood is collaborating with Theatre Under Fire Productions, which consists of UK based Zimbabweans Peter Mutanda, Kabelo Madonko, Edwin Mathe, Dingilizwe Ncube, Maqhawe Ndlovu, Thembelenkosini Moyo and Clement Moyo. Theatre Under Fire was formed in 2006 by Mutanda. Using their Zimbabwe-honed performance skills his team has risen quickly in UK theatre circles and last year received the Afro-Brit Community Award for Outstanding Contribution to Arts & Culture. According to ZimEye.org, The production Director, Caroline Clegg said her interest in doing the historic production was triggered after a short discussion she had with Zimbabwe’s former Archbishop, Pius Ncube, in Bulawayo more than five years ago. He told her of Mugabe: “How can anybody reason with somebody who has lost their sense of reason?” That spelled out to her “Macbeth.”
