Those who love to watch things on the big screen are in for a treat this summer as they get to watch a film for free every week starting this Saturday at Ster Kinekor.

This has been made possible by a unique media partnership between MTV Shuga and social entrepreneur, Gilmore Tee, which will see the fifth season of the hit-drama show, MTV Shuga: Down South being screened for free every Saturday at Ster Kinekor cinemas in Harare and Bulawayo.

One episode of MTV Shuga: Down South will be shown on a weekly basis at the SK105 Harare City Centre and Bulawayo Centre branches of Ster Kinekor.

“We are thrilled that MTV Shuga: Down South is being used in such a varying range of media outlets across Zimbabwe. We know that MTV Shuga: Down South will make further strides in changing attitudes to HIV/AIDS prevention, use of contraception and other health and emotional issues relating to Zimbabwean youth,” said executive director of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and executive producer of MTV Shuga, Georgia Arnold.

Gilmore Tee says the screening of the film will go a long to amplify the vital HIV prevention and sexual health storylines to fans of his podcast and viewers in Zimbabwe.

“This is such an exciting partnership we have created with Ster Kinekor in spreading the HIV/AIDS message that MTV Shuga carries. Viewers should come through in their numbers and be a part of this edutainment drama series,” said Gilmore Tee.

MTV Shuga has at its core sexual and reproductive health messaging for young people, aimed at enabling them to make healthy lifestyle choices. The TV drama series is produced by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and made possible by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and supported by MTV Base Africa, as well as a host of other partners.
