After working on a lot of projects, for over a decade with acts such as Jazz Invitation, Jamaram and Jam Signal, Fungai Nengare finally dropped his debut solo album on Saturday.

Titled ‘Songs About You’, the album comes loaded with 12 soulful jams that show the musical dexterity of Nengare and his band as they experiment with various sounds to make their project unique.

Though all songs are pretty much on point, there are three that stand out – first on the list is ‘Musikana Akadai’.

The track features guitar sangoma, Sylent Nqo and boy he belts it out. It also has a powerful rhythm section that gives it a nice base such that when the acoustic guitar and piano are introduced, plus the lyrics, everything falls into place perfectly.

Another great track is ‘Like I Love You’. Here Fungai mutes all other instruments and remains with his acoustic guitar and collaborates with Noxy Divine Diva.

Yes, you guessed right, it is Noxy from Star FM. The two blend so very well and produce a track that will be on repeat on the playlists of many.

The title track is also palatable and will work at weddings just before the groom drops his vows.

To the launch, Zimbabwe German Society car park was pimped up nice and guests were treated to drinks upon arrival.

Fungai and his band then took to the stage and sampled tracks from the new album and all were warmly received by the audience.

“It’s been a long time coming but am glad that we finally managed to produce and release the project.

“We hope the fans will like it and will keep supporting us,” said Fungai.
