Zimbabwean Fashion Designer, Thembani Mubochwa, has selected style icon and global citizen, Gilmore Tee, as the official Brand Ambassador for the ‘Thembani Mubochwa’ brand.
The brand ‘Thembani Mubochwa’ focuses on providing a unique look for the elite who desire to have a personal designer and get tailored garments. It is different from his other brand ‘TZM’ which caters for the masses who desire to look unique through street wear gear.
“Selecting Gilmore Tee as our ambassador was not even a hard thing, he fits perfectly into the brand as he is currently the Zimbabwean Ambassador in terms of where fashion is concerned.
“He features on major international fashion platforms, representing not only himself, but many other Zimbabweans. This is a great opportunity for our brand to push Zimbabwe’s beauty and fashion to levels outside our comfort zones,” Mubochwa said.
Mubochwa, who is known for his bespoke suits, recently won an award at Vodacom Durban in South Africa.
At the same event Gilmore Tee, who was dressed in an outfit by Mubochwa, got a lot of media attention. His outfit got him featured on Nigeria’s Top Entertainment magazine ‘Pulse Nigeria’ and also on Ghana’s ‘Fashion Ghana’.
The Style Icon who in the past has been seen at public events such as the Zimbabwe Music Awards, Zimbabwe Fashion Week, SA Menswear Week, amongst many, dressed in ‘Thembani Mubochwa’ outfits, says he is ecstatic to be collaborating with the brand.
“I am excited to be working with Thembani Mubochwa in this new journey. I admire Zimbabwe entrepreneurs that have a strong vision and voice, this collaboration comes at a time when Zimbabwean fashion needed the synergies”, Gilmore Tee said.
“The ‘Thembani Mubochwa’ brand represents me in so many ways. I admire the fact that he clearly understands his client,” he added.
It has become an international norm that fashion brands partner with personalities in pushing their products to new markets and levels. In South Africa, brands such as Gert Johan work with Media Personality Bonang Matheba and Pulse work with musician Donald and SA Idols producer, Proverb.
It is encouraging to see local brands slowly catching up to these collaborations which allow both brands to make use of each other’s mileage and attention.
Mubochwa is opening a studio in Zimbabwe.
