Local mobile devices company, Gtel on October 29 added a new gadget to its collection as it launched the SL 5.5 smartphone, Africa’s slimmest phone.
The A755 SL 5.5 was officially unveiled by Gtel chief executive officer, Chamunorwa Shumba at a joint function with Telecel held at the Cresta Lodge in Harare.
Together with Telecel they introduced the Khuluma 263 package that will see customers get free airtime when they buy the new sleek looking smartphone.
The 5.60mm phone would have been the world’s slimmest smartphone had it just been a few millimetres thinner than the Asian Oppo which is 4.85mm thick.
The SL 5.5 smartphone comes in five different colours that include Harare Night which is black and Harare Jacaranda Purple which is inspired by the beautiful blooming Jacaranda flowers in the Avenues.

DESIGN
This smartphone is 5.60mm thin making it slim ultra-slim. It has aluminium alloy edges, glass panels on the front and back, coupled with the ultra-slim design makes it quite a looker in comparison with other smartphones in its league. Despite the smooth surface, it grips easily thanks to the tapered edges.
DISPLAY
At 5 inches the screen is not just a larger display, it has a large Retina display too. With a High Definition (HDR) Resolution of 1080 x1920 and 441 pixels per inch display. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, with a Super-Amoled capacitive touch screen. The screen is more durable and scratch resistant.
CAMERA
The A755 SL 5.5 comes with a remarkable 18 Megapixel HD camera. Its primary camera has 13 Megapixels with auto-focus, and the rear has 5 Megapixel secondary camera on the front for Selfies. This camera has the ability to take vivid photographs and videos even in challenging light conditions. HDR gives you vibrant colours and true life contrast.
OPERATING SYSTEM
It runs on the world’s leading operating system which is the Android OS. The Android 4.4 Kit Kat improves the speed and simplicity of the gadget. It allows the mobile device to go beyond smart with fast and smooth usability options.
PERFORMANCE
A755 SL 5.5 houses a super-fast 1.7 Gigahertz, Media Tek (MT 6592) Octa-core processor which is much faster than an average smartphone CPU. When it comes to handling tasks, the Octa-core processor is quite the beast. One is able to smoothly execute multiple tasks and Apps simultaneously. It also enables a brilliant high performance as well as high efficiency at low power consumption. It has a 2 GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory for storing all sorts of media of one’s choice.
