It was a busy day at Harare Gardens last Friday as theSpace event came to life.

The Space is an annual event where people (especially young people) convene and receive an opportunity to check out different embassies and missions exhibiting educational and business opportunities available in their respective countries.

“From morning till now, the turn out has been very overwhelming and young people who came through in the game changers bay, raised very pertinent questions” expressed Annah Matsika, Voluntary convener at the Space.

The second edition of theSpace ran under the theme ‘Reimagining the future, looking back to the future”.

“It simply means what lessons we are  taking from our past that can influence the future,” Matsika explained.

The event witnessed cultural performances form different countries like Indonesia and a Jerusarema Mbende dance group from Murehwa.

Radio personality, Tendai Garwe, popularly known as ‘Sokostina’ also graced the event.

“One thing I love most about theSpace is that it opens up your mind to things that you did not know or things you perhaps knew were there but didn’t know where to find them” said Garwe.

“Going forward, we should not just make it for the elite or educated but it should be opened up for everyone, Mutare, Mutorashanga, even Epworth so that everyone is aware,” she added.

Meanwhile, Matsika commended the support from different stakeholders who came through to sponsor the event. This lightened the burdens they faced when the event was launched last year.

“The different partners in Zimbabwe are beginning to appreciate that young people can convene positively so we did not face challenges in terms of inviting the different embassies and agencies. They really supported us well”, said Matsika.

Now it’s back to the drawing board in preparation for the third edition which will be even bigger and better than the previous two editions.
