This event is hosted by the Hip Hop foundation and there will be classes teaching different types of hip hop dance such ask rump, popping, housing and locking.

The organiser of the event, Tendai Guzha says, “I will be teaching dance hip hop foundation basics, advanced hip hop choreography and freestyle.”

“The main problem that we face in Zimbabwean dance is that many people are just dancing without knowledge of the style foundation and even those who judge locally just judge according to performance as opposed to technique.”

Guzha says he will be addressing these issues to make sure that people have more knowledge of the hip hop dance genre which will increase fairness from a judging perspective as well.

After the workshop, which is the training, the participants are given a chance to apply what they have learnt in a battle. They will be judged by Guzha himself and other judges who are professional dancers.

“I run a mobile dance studio called Dance 1st International. I teach in schools. This workshop is run by this school and participants are guaranteed professional dance training.”

“The idea of these workshops is to make Zimbabwe part of the International Dance Organisation. We want to send a team to the World Dance Competition and I am also going. This is a preliminary talent search.”

Tendai Guzha is a choreographer, he holds a dance degree from Dance Web Studios in South Africa. He works in developing dance in Zimbabwe as a judge and a dance teacher.
