Round of applause to Nico Abote and the radio master, Napstar for coming up with this exciting and incisive online video review show, iNgoma Music Show.
Zimbo Jam got in touch with one of the brains behind the show which is slowly becoming a hit online, Nico Abote and he told us more about it.
What is the main idea of the show?
The main idea behind the show is to offer constructive criticism through reviews of Zimbabwean music videos as a way to encourage quality development in the music industry by remaining relevant and competitive.
How many episodes have you done to date and did you expect such engagement?
So far we have done seven episodes and we are aiming to produce 13. The response towards the show has been amazing beyond our initial expectation.
Will you push it for TV in the future?
The show is currently available under the online TV platform and after 13 episodes we will focus more on pursuing the television offers we currently have on the table.
Besides being a presenter what other roles do you play in the production of iNgoma?
I am also one of the Producers while Napoleon is a Co-Producer to the show as well.
How has been the response from artists?
The responses have been interesting with feedback being mainly positive as this is the first honest platform for contributions that the artists have ever received and they are now utilizing this to improve on quality. The best has been Hope Masike’s response to our review for her video which she also recorded.
Tell us about the opportunities that have come with social media, using iNgoma as an example?
Ingoma has opened up the opportunities for fruitful partnerships with local businesses for instance News Cafe and Pariah State.
The show has also increased awareness and appreciation for Zimbabwean music and cultural content this has the greater effect of promoting the buy Zimbabwe initiative.
