The Media Centre in Harare will host a Fidel Castro Lecture on December 1. The lecture will be themed, “A reflection on the life and times of Fidel Castro following the death of the iconic Cuban leader last week. Will History absolve him?”

Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz orchestrated the Cuban revolution in 1953 and governed the Republic of Cuba for 47 years as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976 and then as President from 1976 to 2006.  He handed over provisional power to his brother Raul in July 2006 because of health problems and formally relinquished the presidency in February 2008. He died on November 25, 2016, after a protracted illness (Wikipedia and Encyclopedia Britannica).

The lecture will be co-presented by Spokesperson of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA), Douglas Mahiya, activist, Takura Zhangazha,  former ZINASU President, Gift Ostalos Siziba and a Cuban Embassy representative.
