Jah Prayzah took a huge continental step today, winning an award at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs). The Mdhara Vachauya hit-maker won the Listeners’ Choice award ahead of a whopping twenty other nominees in the category. He later told fans, “I am tearing up.”The Zimbabwean musician was not at the awards ceremony to collect the award but posted a celebratory message on his Facebook page shortly after winning, “Masoja woye! Handina mashoko kani! Tautora mukombe uya weListener’s Choice kuma MAMA Awards kuJoburg. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it there but I just want to thank you all so much masoja for the support! Ndirikushaya pekubata nemufaro, I am tearing up!”

The  2016 edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards took place last night, October 22, 2016, at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa. The host took home the most awards – six in total, while Nigeria went home with five. Full list of winners below the video.
