Tuesday afternoon was a busy day in the CBD with the politicians marching up and down the streets and vendors invading more pavements like a fast spreading cancer.

However, there was another jam that was felt and this was caused by the opening of yet another Jan Jam store in George Silundika Avenue.

This avenue is one of the few in Harare that houses a select of fine menswear stores – but if the trend remains as is, it soon will be renamed to Jan Jam Avenue.

The new store is much bigger and loaded with cool aesthetics. Jan Jam is set to attract not only the middle-class but even the affluent in society.

The original yellow bone, Cynthia Sithole who founded the business has added a sportswear section that is complemented by an all new mouth-watering watch section.

Speaking at the official opening of the shop on Tuesday afternoon, Cynthia’s father who was guest of honour, Pastor Alwyn Bizure said he was happy to see that the entrepreneurial spirit in her daughter had taken her this far.

“Even when she was young, Cynthia loved selling stuff. She would buy small things and resell from her pocket money and she would make decent profit,” he said.

“At one point she was supplying supermarkets with some produce and now today I see her expanding her business steadily which makes me very proud.

“I wish her and her husband Tanaka all the best as they keep working to grow the Jan Jam brand,” added Pastor Bizure.

In between speeches and selfies, the over 50 guests who were each given Jan Jam discount cards, were treated to some cool soulful music from Prayersoul and a bit of rib cracking moments when comedian, Gonyeti took to the stage.

The launch was attended by musicians, actors, models, fashion designers and some of Jan Jam’s die hard clients.
