Only those with tough lungs were the candidates for this experience because had the frail also been included, then ambulances would have swarmed Reps Theatre to assist many suffering from respiratory failure as the muscles and nerves that control breathing would have been raptured due to excessive laughing.

The much anticipated Alfred Kainga ‘Home Coming’ comedy show lived to billing as the sold out crowd laughed out loud in the storied Reps Theatre as they were served with some amazing comedy delights.

First up was young Tinaye and he slayed it too bad. In fact, many who attended are saying he was ‘the man’ on this historic night.

From the start to end of his set, the youngster was just in no nonsense mood and set up a good pace for the evening.

The host Q The Boss also came through and sustained the momentum of the show – keeping ear to ear grins slapped on the faces of people in the auditorium.

After him then cam Long John. Sadly for the tallest comedian on the Zim comedy scene, his set lacked the gusto and kind of watered down the fire that his fellow companions had started but thanks to Q who came back and raised the levels once again.

Then it was time for Kainga and he proved why Kevin Hart had given him a slot on Comedy Central.

Without delving much into local politics or social issues affecting Zimbabwe, Kainga jokes were more about his life experiences growing up as a Mbare kid who then jetted off to America and started off as a vacuum cleaner seller before getting his big break on the comedy scene.

For a full hour the American based comedian wowed the crowd and in similar manner to Tinaye’s set it was a grand opening and grand closing.

Kainga promised that he would be returning soon for another encounter with his home crowd.
