Ten years ago Karizma, a young hip hop artist, released his first album ‘The pen and lighter LP’. Today, to celebrate his introduction to the hip hop scene, he is releasing a sassy track, ‘Shisha Pipe’.
Karizma is credited as one of the pioneers of urban Zim Hip-Hop. He will also release a music video to the single on Zimbo Jam and his Vevo page at 1530hrs today.
‘Shisha Pipe’ is a tongue-in-cheek song about how a regular day turned into an unforgettable story. The song emphasises how some girls are not looking for love, but a good time instead.
Producer Yung Nash, who worked on the song with Karizma, explained how the track came together “I sent the beat to Karizma while he was in England, when he flew back we met at Yagi’s house and he rapped to me while he was eating dinner lol, that’s when I knew it was heat.”
The video was shot by Metro award winning Directors Ofentse Mwase and Brian Makhabela in Sandton, Johannesburg. Mwase has seven film awards earned within 5 years in the South African film industry. This well-thought out and well-produced piece is how the Hip Hop star is introducing himself to the South African market.
“What makes this video special is that this is the first time in my career that I’m at a place where I have been able to just seek out and pay the best person for the job and not cut corners the indie way.” says Karizma.
The song, Karizma’s fourth project, is described as having “a cross over hip hop effect. You can’t help but love the smoothness of the song” said ZiFM deejay, MisRed.
Fellow musician, Simba Tagz, stated “Karizma is back with a new twist to the NGNG series, a new Audio landscape with a new fresh touch and appeal and a new lens with which to view the Karizma brand, the next releases are sure to emerge and leave their mark.”
“I know my fans have been rooting for me and waiting for me to step up to the plate with a full commercial release and take it all the way and this time round I feel like we have a great chance of achieving that.”
