Miss Tourism Zimbabwe loses key sponsor but vows to keep its glam

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, which made a come-back last year with the support of a major key sponsor, has vowed to keep up the glam levels during the 2017 edition despite the fact that the sponsor has pulled out.

This was revealed at a press briefing held at the Andy Miller Hall on Wednesday morning.

Another change is the fact that there is a new Tousism Minister, Edgar Mbwembwe. He replaced Walter Mzembi, who is now the new Foreign Affairs Minister after the recent cabinet reshuffle.

“Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2016 was a resounding success thanks to the support of various stakeholders that supported the initiative. We are pleased to announce that Miss Tourism 2017 preparations have started and are in motion and are flowing smoothly,” said MTZ spokesperson, Spencer Manyembe.

Minister Mbwembwe added that government would keep supporting the pageant as it boosts tourism.

“As government, we shall continue supporting MTZ through our Brand Zimbabwe campaign. Pageants are popular world over for boosting tourism as they create a good image of the country,” said the Minister.

Meanwhile, with the main sponsor for last year’s edition, BigTime Investments having pulled out, Manyemba and team stated that they have a sponsor for 2017 but they have requested to stay anonymous.
