Watching Baba Charles and Mai Olivia Charamba perform at the Artists Supporting Artists Concert on 7th November I sensed that something was different. I have watched them perform numerous times before and I could feel that this was not the same. Something had changed. Something was better.
With the continued proliferation of churches, often with divergent views and interpretations of the Word of God it’s always good to see them coming together for a joint project. One such project is the annual Heavenly Praise Choral Music Festival which will take place this year from November through December at different venues around Zimbabwe. Over 170 choirs will take part.
It was only after Rebecca Malope’s first album was received well that she decided to go into Gospel Music full time. Zimbabwean fans are glad she made that decision as they anticipate her arrival for a much publicized October 3 concert at the Harare Gardens.
Standing ovations don’t happen when the Celebration Choir performs. The audience usually gets to its feet way before it’s time to applaud, so it’s not a standing ovation- but standing participation from beginning to end. And it was standing participation all the way from one end of Seattle to another during their recent USA tour.
