Details continue to unfold of the accident that killed Sam Mtukudzi and his sound engineer, Owen Chimhare. We are told that there was no other vehicle involved. Sam’s car veered off the road into the bridge just before the Kuwadzana extension turn off on the Bulawayo highway.

Both of them died on the spot. According to the Tuku Music public relations department, burial arrangements will be announced in due course.

Sam and his father had just embarked upon a series of concerts themed Perekedza Mwana, which means “accompany the child.”

Ironically, the last post on his Facebook page, was a question from the Truth Game, posted by one of his friends on Friday: “Would you cry if Sam died.”

I think the answer to that is obvious. Zimbabwe is crying.

We're mourning with the Mtukudzi family. So sorry for your loss which is a loss
to the whole nation.He was a high flyer,so gifted, so cultured and gracious.We
can never understand why some things happen the way they do.Let's give thanks to

Having followed Sam's shows I am really devastated on his passing. He was a
fine gentleman, talented and humble who will be greatly missed by Viola and
Fiso. I remember his las show at Jazz 105 when he took the time to chat to his

Ndarwadziwa and am still hoping against hope its not true. I watched the
performance Sam put up with his father and how he sung "Amai" to his mum
(Daisy) as she sat on a high stool. I cannot imagine how any mother can take the
death of her child after such a dedication. My prayers are with the Tuku family.
God will help you through this.

Its a painful reality that we have to face, gone too soon indeed, I mean
this was a legend in the making. I was skeptical about Sam when he began his
music career thinking that he was just out to become another Oliver Mtukudzi,

I can imagine the paine that i am experiencing for Sam, what about Oliver, what
about Daisy and what about all who were close to him. Yes sometimes you feel
life is unfair but you know what? THe devine spirit is always there for a
reason. Sam has been taken away for a reason that we all do not know and it is a
very good reason. WE all do not know why! But one word of advice to the public
is please do stop causing other families mischief. I hope who ever spread
rumours that Oliver Mtukudzi is dead are going to be haunted for the rest of
