Music & Dance - Other Beats

When Sandra Ndebele performed at HIFA 2008 she had put on quite a few kilos and left fans wondering where this was all heading. Last year in March she gave birth to a baby boy, Nkanyiso Tiny Sibindi and took time away from the entertainment scene as she nursed him. Well, she’s lost weight, she rejuvenated and she’s back.

Sandra Ndebele at HIFA 2008If Roki is the bad boy of Zimbabwean music, then Sandra Ndebele is its just as famous, just as loved, bad girl. Her skimpy outfits and suggestive dance moves have given her fans and anti-fans in seemingly equal proportions. Her defence is that her moves and outfits are inspired by traditional culture and that she has not invented anything new.

Unperturbed by the controversy she has continued to perform and release songs and to grow her fan base till her pause for maternal hiatus last year.

She has now lined up shows staring February and, with her band Intombi Zomqhangala, is preparing for a tour of Austria later in the year.

We’re sure her fans can’t wait to hear her scream: “Sandy! Sandy! Sandy” once more.

Well, Miss Sandra, let's hope you have something new this time round, something
creative, something that proves that you are an artist and not just a raunchy
dancer.

You're my favourite dancing queen. Forget the haters. Do your thing girl and
shine like Alexio's song.
