Comrade Fatso is set to hold Zimbabwe’s flag high once again on the international music scene as he is set tour the USA for the second time in as many months this June.

Fatso has been invited, not only to perform but also to be the main MC at California’s leading World Music and Reggae Festival, the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival (www.snwmf.com) which will take place from 19th to 21st June at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Booneville.

The huge honour bestowed upon Fatso to MC the event will see him rubbing shoulders with the legendary Gregory Isaacs, Sly and Robbie (the iconic reggae music producers behind Bob Marley), Anthony B (Jamaica’s dancehall king), Femi Kuti (one of Africa’s leading artists), Michael Rose of Black Uhuru fame, Zap Mama and many other leading international stars.

The Sierra Nevada Festival attracts thousands of festival goers and features the best of world music and reggae. According to the festival organisers “Over the past fifteen years we have endeavoured to build a community where conscious music, roots music and world music is embraced.”

Fatso’s calendar has been busy lately. He has just returned from a performance in the UK. Before that he was at HIFA 2009 where he performed to a sold out audience just after landing from a one month tour of the States with his band Chabvondoka.

Before his appearance at the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival he will make a stopover in Washington DC where he will perform at a concert on June 16th, held in honour of the 1976 Soweto uprising. Fatso will perform alongside Anti Apartheid icon, Dennis Brutus whose poetry has been studied all over the world and who is heralded as a poetry and struggle hero in South Africa.

Fatso’s second tour of the States in as many months is testimony of his growing stature internationally. His controversial, politically-charged album House of Hunger though banned on Zimbabwe state radio is receiving airplay globally on leading radio stations in the US, the UK, France, South Africa and elsewhere.

Catch Fatso before he leaves. He will be performing with Chabvondoka at the Mannenberg in Harare on Thursday 11th June before he jets off for the States.

Iwe, don't you know that talent is only a small part of success. Fatso works
hard and that's why he is making waves. That he is a white boy making Zimbabwe
resistance tunes may get him attention for a few minutes- but it won't sustain
it. His hard work is what does.
