This rigorous selection process is to avoid scandals that may in turn ruin, not only the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe brand, but also the reputation of Zimbabwe as the winners of the competition subsequently represent the country.

“Miss Tourism Zimbabwe is the chief Public Relations Manager of the country, according to the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Trust. This lady takes the lead in campaigns for tourism, investment promotion and overall branding,” said the Spokesman for Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, Alson Darikayi.

For one to take part in the competition, the following qualities are required: beauty, intellectual prowess, gracefulness, dignity, articulation and charisma.

Three ladies with these aforementioned qualities will be chosen to represent Zimbabwe at various engagements.

“On the local front, Miss Tourism Zimbabwe is assisted by her two princesses, the 1st Princess is Miss Tourism Agro, who conveys the success story of agrarian reform while promoting national agrarian events. The Second Princess is Miss City Tourism–her role is to promote cleaner cities, community engagement and investment in urban areas,” said Darikayi.

According to the organisers, the main sponsor of the event will be announced on October 18, 2016 and a shortlist of 18 finalists will be announced on October 20, 2016.
