Cycling to Work - Municipal Police Bulawayo

Police Ahead. Police Ahead. FUNGAIFOTO | INONZI MEMORY

Two municipal policemen from the Bulawayo Cycle to work in New Luveve in the city of kings. There will obviously be no high speed chases on these bicycles but they serve well as transportation.

Municipal police across Zimbabwe are most well known and feared for their treatment of street vendors.  In June this year, a blitz on vendors by the Bulawayo Municipal Police nearly turned tragic as one of the vendors was struck by a speeding vehicle as he fled from the police.

According to The Chronicle, a vendor identified as Mr Norest Ndlovu (19), from Makokoba suburb, was lucky to escape with his life after he was struck by a speeding kombi that was driving along 6th Avenue as he tried to cross the street.
