Bulawayo's Hillside Dams, Safe & Fresh Again

Upper Dam, Hillside Dams in Bulawayo. Upper Dam, Hillside Dams in Bulawayo. INONZI MEMORY | ZIMBOJAM.COM

Hillside Dams in Bulawayo are once again safe and clean after an independent committee took over their management recently. The place had become unsafe and littered in recent years under the management of the City Council.

There were several reports of muggings there and it seemed the tranquil surroundings of the Dams had been lost to nature lovers and those seeking time out from the busy hustle of the city. Entrance was free then, but so is neglect. Grass went uncut, litter uncollected and there was no security.

Now all that has changed and a coffee shop on the premises offers delightful snacks and completes the picture for those who don't want to carry a picnic basket.

The dams are a popular picnic and relaxation spot for families and groups.
