I suppose that question is not nearly as important as this one:
Who cares how you spell the word? Really. What millions of people in the world would die to know is how to keep those resolutions once you have made them.
As the year comes to a speedy end, how many of us have the courage to look at that brave list we made at the beginning of the year when we were confident we would conquer everything that stood in the way of our dreams?
I don't. Not right now at least. That would spoil the festivities. I'll look at it after 1 January.
Yes. Aware of our defeat on so many fronts, we avoid the LIST at all costs and are temped NOT to even think of making one for the coming year.
I wouldn't blame you- and no I am not going to tell you how to keep your resolutions- but I may just help you with the spelling bit.
What I can do for you though is to tell you that perhaps the fact that you are still standing means that you are not defeated? Perhaps this time don't make ANY resolutions, but make some solid DECISIONS. There is a difference apparently.
From what I understand in my searches to heal my own resolution angst, a DECISION is like a no-other-options-available mental state and is not a once a year fancy, but a daily walk. I promise. Ask the self help gurus. So no resolutions for me, just decisions.
And if at the end of 2009 I come crying to you about how I got the same results from my DECISIONS as I did previously from my RESOLUTIONS then you have the permission to kick me very hard- as long as you allow me to return the favour.
Here's to a successful 2009!
