^ NAMA Winner. David Mungoshi reaches for a copy of his book at a recent function held at the University of Zimbabwe to honour him.

The function was organised by the English Department to congratulate David on his winning of a NAMA Award for the novel The Fading Sun.

Above, Memory Chirere, a fellow lecturer in the department, speaks about the significance of the award. Seated next to him is David, further right is Musaemura Zimunya, Zimbabwe's most anthologised poet. To the extreme right is the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Pedzisai Mashiri.

The function was attended by English students, lecturers and friends of David. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Levy Nyagura had planned to be there but could not make it and sent Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Chipo Dyanda to represent him.
