Change Can Happen. "Something amazing has happened in America," said Zolani Mahola, lead singer of the South African group Freshly Ground, during their performance at the 8th Edition of NAMA, "there has been change. Change can happen. Have hope."
It seems she was urging Zimbabweans to have hope in spite of the tough political and economic times the country is facing. Freshly Ground kicked off the NAMA after-party just before 11pm. They perfomed tracks from their albums Ma Cherie and Nomvula.
They were followed by Ndolwane Super Sounds, Tongai Moyo and then Alick Macheso. The members of Freshly Ground are Zolani Mahola, Peter Cohen, Aron Turest-Swartz, Kyla-Rose Smith, Simon Attwell, Julio Sigauke and Josh Hwaks. Simon grew up in Zimbabwe. The 8th Edition of the National Arts Merit Awards was held at the Rainbow Towers International Conference Centre (formerly Harare International Conference Centre), 13 Feb 2009. Share this page... |
